SPEED & PERFORMANCE PROFILE
72.4 MPH Top Speed:
The 2022 GP1800R SVHO delivers breathtaking performance with a verified top speed of 72.4 mph (62.9 knots) based on professional testing . Even with a full fuel tank and choppy water conditions, it cruised comfortably in the 36-40 mph range, demonstrating its versatility from aggressive racing to relaxed cruising .
300 HP Supercharged SVHO Engine:
The GP1800R SVHO is powered by Yamaha’s most technologically advanced marine engine ever designed—a 1.8L, supercharged 4-cylinder SVHO powerplant delivering more power and torque than any engine ever in a Yamaha WaveRunner . Engine highlights include:
- Supercharged induction with intercooler for maximum power output
- Electronic Fuel Injection with four electronically controlled injectors for smooth, high power delivery with low fuel consumption
- One-piece cylinder and crankcase assembly for tremendous rigidity that’s lighter and stiffer than two-piece designs
- Slant Detection Switch stops engine and oil pumps immediately if watercraft becomes overturned, protecting the motor from water ingestion
NanoXcel2 Lightweight Construction:
Yamaha’s second-generation NanoXcel2 hull and deck material is significantly lighter than traditional fiberglass, delivering improved acceleration, top-end speed, fuel economy, and handling . The result is a state-of-the-art watercraft that is quick and nimble, with balance and maneuverability that truly connects the driver to the machine . A redesigned hull liner moves the fuel tank 80mm towards the stern and 15mm lower, enhancing nimble handling and agility .
160mm High-Pressure Pump with 8 Vanes:
The 160mm, 8-vane high pressure pump features a large capacity intake duct, a specifically developed impeller, and large diameter nozzle matching the tremendous power of the 1.8L supercharged engine . For 2021, the pump was upgraded to allow less turbulent water to flow through, resulting in better acceleration and less cavitation in choppy water conditions . The race-inspired ride plate and intake grate keep riders glued to the water, even at top speed .
RACE-INSPIRED TECHNOLOGY
Industry-First Auto Trim System:
The GP1800R SVHO features Yamaha’s exclusive Auto Trim system, working independently from the electric trim control :
|

Description |
|
Launch Control |
Automatically shifts the trim down to prevent bow rise when accelerating quickly, maximizing hole-shot acceleration |
|
Cornering Control |
Automatically shifts the trim into the bow down position when decelerating for tighter cornering and a racy feel |
RiDE® Dual Control System:
Yamaha’s patented RiDE (Reverse with Intuitive Deceleration Electronics) system is the world’s first dual throttle handlebar control system :
- Right lever to accelerate
- Left lever to decelerate and for reverse
- Release both for neutral
- Provides better handling, smooth deceleration, and more control while turning
DRIVE Control:
The 4.3″ Connext display includes DRIVE Control, allowing the owner to set top speed increments and acceleration settings from normal to slow . This feature lets you tailor the craft’s performance to conditions or rider experience level.
