The 2021 General 4 1000 Deluxe Ride Command is powered by Polaris’s ProStar 1000 — a purpose-built 999cc liquid-cooled DOHC twin-cylinder 4-stroke engine tuned specifically for the GENERAL platform. The GENERAL 4 1000 uses Polaris’s On-Demand True AWD system — the front differential engages automatically when rear wheel slip is detected, requiring no driver input to add traction when trail conditions change. VersaTrac Turf Mode unlocks the rear differential for zero-turn capability on sensitive surfaces without damaging grass, pasture, or landscaping. Electronic Power Steering (EPS) is standard, providing variable assist that reduces steering effort at low speeds while improving feel and feedback at trail speeds.

The Deluxe trim level upgrades both front and rear shocks to FOX 2.0 PODIUM QS3 — 3-position compression-adjustable shocks with a numbered dial that switches between Soft, Medium, and Firm damping settings. This lets the driver tune the suspension feel on the fly for different terrain and load conditions without tools. The front Dual A-Arm suspension provides 12.25 inches of travel, while the rear Dual Arm IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) with stabilizer bar delivers 13.2 inches of travel — maintaining all four tires in consistent contact with the ground over uneven terrain even under full passenger load.

Ride Command™ Technology RC EDITION EXCLUSIVE
WHAT RIDE COMMAND ADDS
The Ride Command Edition upgrades the standard 4″ LCD gauge to a 7-inch glove-touch GPS display, adds built-in Bluetooth and AM/FM/Weather radio, activates front and rear on-board cameras, and includes Group Ride connectivity. The Rockford Fosgate audio system is also upgraded to Stage 4 (400W amp + 10-inch underdash subwoofer). These are exclusive to the RC Edition — the standard Deluxe does not include GPS or premium audio.
Polaris Ride Command transforms the GENERAL 4 into a connected off-road vehicle. The 7-inch glove-touch TFT display mounts front-and-center in the cab and provides real-time GPS mapping with over 200,000 miles of pre-loaded trail data — allowing drivers to navigate unfamiliar trail networks without a separate device. The display is full-color and readable in direct sunlight, controllable in gloves without removing fingers from the wheel area.
